Definition

The finish is how long a wine’s taste and aroma linger after you swallow. A short finish fades quickly; a long finish stays for many seconds. A longer finish is usually a sign of higher quality.

Why it matters for WSET

Finish (or length) is the last thing you assess on the palate in the WSET method and a key clue to quality.

Example

A fine wine keeps its aroma going long after you swallow.
